Terms of use
Last updated 26 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and the sole trader who runs Wright & Ledger (“we”, “us”). They cover your use of the Wright & Ledger app. Please read them before you create an account. By creating an account you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Wright & Ledger is run by the sole trader who runs Wright & Ledger. You can contact us at ajpiper10@gmail.com.
2. Who the app is for
The app is for businesses: sole traders, partnerships and companies, mainly in construction. By signing up you confirm you’re using it for your business and not as a consumer.
3. Your free month
Every new account gets 30 days free, starting when you sign up. You don’t need a card to start. If you were invited by a friend, the same free month applies.
4. Price and payment
- After the free month the app costs £15 a month.
- We’re not VAT-registered, so no VAT is added. If that changes, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before VAT is added.
- Payments are taken by card through Stripe, monthly in advance. If you add your card during the free month, the first payment is taken on the day it ends. Otherwise it’s taken on the day you subscribe.
- If a payment fails, we’ll ask you to update your card. If it still isn’t paid, your account is treated as unsubscribed (see section 6).
- We may change the price. We’ll email you at least 30 days before. The new price applies from your next payment after that, and you can cancel before then.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel any time in the app under Settings › Your plan › Change card, see receipts or cancel. Your subscription stays active until the end of the month you’ve paid for, then stops. We don’t refund part months.
6. If you don’t subscribe or you cancel
Once your free month or paid time ends, you can still sign in and see and download your records, but you can’t send new invoices, and automatic chasing pauses. Subscribe again any time to pick up where you left off.
7. Refer a mate
If someone signs up with your invite link and pays for their first month after their free month, you both get one month free. This is a £15 credit on your next bill. If you haven’t subscribed yet, the credit waits until you do. Credits have no cash value and can’t be transferred. You can’t invite yourself or create extra accounts to earn credits. We may change or end the scheme with notice, but credits already earned will be honoured.
8. Your responsibilities
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what’s done in your account.
- Make sure the details you enter are right: your CIS status, VAT number, bank details, customers, prices and the type of work.
- Check every invoice before you send it. Invoices are sent in your name, and the figures on them are your responsibility.
- You must have the right to give us your customers’ details, and to have reminders sent to them. You can pause chasing on any invoice.
- HMRC expects you to keep your own business records. Download your invoices and keep copies, and don’t rely on the app as your only record.
- Don’t use the app for anything unlawful, to send messages to people who don’t owe you money, or in a way that could harm the service or other users.
9. Tax and VAT figures
The app works out CIS, VAT, the reverse charge and late payment interest from the information you give it and the rules as we understand them. We work to keep it up to date and tell you about changes that affect your trade. But it records and calculates; it doesn’t give tax, legal or accounting advice. If you’re not sure how a rule applies to you, ask your accountant or HMRC.
10. Card payments from your customers
If you connect your own Stripe account so customers can pay by card, the money goes straight to you. Your agreement with Stripe covers those payments and their fees. We’re not a party to it and never hold your money.
11. The service
We aim to keep the app running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and we may improve or change features over time. If we plan to remove something important you rely on, we’ll give you reasonable notice.
12. Our liability to you
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
- We’re not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- We’re not responsible for amounts your customers don’t pay you, or for penalties or tax that arise because the information entered in the app was wrong.
- Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Suspending or closing accounts
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or close an account if it’s used unlawfully, to send unwanted messages, to abuse the referral scheme, or in serious breach of these terms. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll warn you first. When an account is closed, we delete its data as described in our Privacy policy, so download anything you need to keep first.
14. Your data and your customers’ data
Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
When you add your customers’ details, you’re the controller of that data and we process it on your behalf. Under UK GDPR we agree to:
- use it only to provide the app to you, following your instructions (what you set up in the app is your instructions);
- make sure anyone who can access it is bound to keep it confidential;
- keep it secure;
- only use the suppliers listed in our Privacy policy to help us. We’ll tell you before adding or replacing one, so you can object, and we’ll hold each to the same standards;
- help you respond to requests from your customers who want to see or delete their data, and with any security or data protection checks you need to do;
- tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting it;
- delete it when your account closes, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- give you the information you reasonably need to show we’re meeting these obligations.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For any important change we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you carry on using the app after that, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then.
16. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
